SECUR-MFR : a new project with XYLOBIOTECH technical support related with flowering and seed formation in maritime pine seed orchard

The SECUR-MFR project “Securing supplies in Forest Reproductive Material” leaded by INRA Orléans (L. Pâques) is one out of 35 projects granted in the frame of the national MAA call 2016-2017 “innovation and investment for the upstream forest sector” funded by the Strategic fund for forest and wood (FSFB).

Sexual reproduction is a major component of the adaptive value and the main way for deployment of forest reproductive material. Both flowering and seed development can be significantly impacted by climate changes. SECUR-MFR will contribute to gain new insights into sexual reproduction of forest trees in order to improve in the relatively short term practices of both managers and operators of seed production structures, especially seed orchards.

FCBA is one partner of the project specifically involved into the study of maritime pine seed orchards established in contrasted pedoclimatic conditions. The qualitative analysis of seedlots sampled in seed orchards will beneficiate from the technical support of XYLOBIOTECH.
